Merry Christmas friends!
May the powerful mystery of God-became-man be fresh to you this day.
Here is a very different take on that mystery by The Modern Post that reminds us of the war that was waged in that Bethlehem manger two millennia ago. In the words of Kimberly Wagner, "The angels proclaimed peace on earth, but they knew that peace can only come through the victory secured by this Babe’s death and resurrection. He was born to die. But through His death He conquered the enemy of men’s souls. He came to establish peace, but peace purchased at such great cost—His precious blood. One day He’ll wear a robe stained from that precious blood when He wages war at His final Advent, in battle apparel as our warrior King."
Praise God for the war God waged this day.
Christmas blessings to you and your family,
John
THIS IS WAR by The Modern Post
This is war like you ain’t seen
This winter’s long, it’s cold and mean
With downcast hearts, we stood condemned
But the tide turns now at Bethlehem
This is war, and born tonight
The Word as flesh, the Lord of Light
The Son of God, the lowborn King
Whom demons fear, of whom angels sing
[Chorus]
Hallelujah, a Child is born!
He is the rescue we’ve waited for
The Throne of David, He will restore
And reign with mercy forevermore
Hallelujah, a Child is born!
He is the rescue we’ve waited for
The Throne of David, He will restore
And reign with mercy forevermore
This is war on sin and death
The dark will take its final breath
It shakes the earth, confounds all plans
The mystery of God as man
